As a result of the election of the new Brazilian Government, the Brazilian PTO, which is now under the Special Secretariat for Productivity, Employment and Competitiveness, and reports to the Ministry of Economy, has been introducing effective measures to eliminate the patent backlog and to reduce the time for patent grant.
On the trademark side, it has reduced the backlog to make it posible for Brazil to implement the Madrid Protocol, which will start to be operated as from October 2019. What are these initiatives? What to expect from them? How can IP onwers benefit from these initiatives?
