The first vaccine in the world to combat the syncytial virus, developed by Chilean national Alexis Kalergis, received a patent concession in China, which is in addition to the similar registration performed in the United States. Thus, treatment is advancing to potential commercialization and use in millions of cases. Kalergis, director of Instituto Milenio de Inmunología e Inmunoterapia, confirmed that the vaccines are currently undergoing human testing.
