Chile ranks 41st in the world ranking for innovation and is first in Latin America

Chile leads the Global Innovation Index (GII) in the Latin America and Caribbean region, according to a ranking published today, which evaluates the policies set forth by countries to incentive development and promote economic growth.

After Chile, which is ranked 41 in the world ranking, Costa Rica appears in the second position for the region (51 in the world), followed by México, who is third for Latin America and the Caribbean, holding position 57.

The general list elaborated by the American university Cornell, the INSEAD School of business and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), is led by Switzerland, followed by the United Kingdom, Sweden, the Netherlands and the United States.

The study underlines that Latin America and the Caribbean is a region with an innovation potential that is increasing, but which nonetheless, remains “practically unexploited”.
