ClarkeModet appoints Maria Cruz Garcia as the new CEO and Business Development Director in Portugal

Lisbon, July 6^th, 2021. –  ClarkeModet Group has appointed Maria Cruz Garcia as the new CEO and Business Development Director of ClarkeModet Portugal. Maria joined ClarkeModet in 2020 and is a renowned lawyer and official industrial property agent with a career of over 16 years of experience on the Intellectual Property field.

Before joining ClarkeModet, Maria held other positions of responsibility in different law firms. Throughout their career, she has led several areas in the IP field, from litigation to business development, marketing, or legal communications.

Maria Cruz Garcia states that “working hand in hand with companies that bet on R+D is the best way to understand the real needs of innovators and creators and to find the best solutions that IP has to offer. With this approach, from ClarkeModet Portugal we will accompany domestic and foreign companies that operate in the country for them to get the most out of these assets, which are increasingly important in the new global market”.

With her appointment, ClarkeModet reinforces the national and international positioning of their Portuguese company that, founded on 1965, is one of the oldest companies in the group. Over the last years, ClarkeModet has bet on the strengthening of its strategic consulting services all around the world, for which new and increasingly specialized profiles and revolutionary technologies are being incorporated in the protection of intangible assets, such as Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence.

Maria Cruz García holds a law degree from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and two postgraduate degrees on Intellectual Property. She is a member of the Portuguese Bar Association and has held leading positions in numerous IP associations, such as serving as the general secretary of the Portuguese Group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property since 2013 and being a past member of the board of directors of the Portuguese Association of IP Professionals. She is active in other major international organisations including INTA, the International Federation of IP Attorneys, the European Communities Trademark Association and the Pharmaceutical Trademarks Group. Maria currently have several acknowledgments in the sector, such as the IP STAR 2021, IAM Patent 1000 Recommended Individual or the WIPR Leader.
