If you purchase a Chile’s national team shirt, part of the price will pay a royalty to the owner of such trademark rights; the same applies to purchases of shirts of your favorite band or a cinema star.
The license business currently generates around USD 241 billion per year, according to a study of the Licensing Industry Merchandisers Association (LIMA).
The retail sector represents 12% of all license revenues, with the entertainment sector being on top of the list, followed by corporate brand, which are those company engaged in manufacturing, but not in selling licensed products.
