It seemed that the debate on new food labeling requirements had faded for the industry’s guilds. During the discussion of the law and its regulation, these guilds organized a strong offensive as they believed that this item harmed, among various aspects, the intellectual property rights of producers

However, the debate was reinitiated on Wednesday in the Chamber of Commerce of Santiago, at a meeting held with the commercial representatives of the most relevant countries, where embassy officials were asked to intervene before sanitary authorities for the purposes of amending some rules that could affect imports.  

In total, according to market sources, and due to the more stringent requirements established by the regulation, at least 150 food products will no longer be imported (…).
