The registry of trademarks in Chile is becoming increasingly active. By September of this year, 31,047 trademarks have already been registered, thereby exceeding the entire year of 2012 (28,633). It is very close to the consolidated numbers of 2013 (41,847) and 2014 (41,756), as per the figures provided by the National Institute of Industrial Property (Inapi).

“The companies and new entrepreneurs have understood the usefulness of the trademark registry to keep an advantageous position regarding their competitors”, contended Inapi’s national director Mr. Maximiliano Santa Cruz. He added that behind this sustained increase in the past year is the improvement and redesign of handling processes and the quality of the users’ submissions.
