New Regulation proposal for a simplified granting procedure of patent applications in Brazil is placed for a public consultation (UPDATE)

The public consultation on a New Regulation proposal would reduce the time for patent granting in Brazil through a simplified allowance procedure for patent applications (except for pharmaceutical products or processes):

• Public consultation was finished on August 31st

• Significant pressures for approving such extraordinary procedure have increased the likelihood of it becoming reality

• Although it is still hard to predict its final format and when it will be in force, chances are that the procedure will be effective by the end of this year or early 2018
