Universidad de Antofagasta receives Gladys Huerta and Loreto Alarcón in seminar on Intellectual Property

On October 22, Gladys Huerta, Director of the Patents Department of Clarke, Modet & Co. Chile, along with Loreto Alarcón, a chemist specialized on patents, conducted a workshop conference at Universidad de Antofagasta on Patent Drafting and Searches.

Gladys Huerta initiated the conference with an Introduction to the Protection of Intangible Assets, where she explained Protection on a global level (patents, brands, designs, utility models), emphasizing on Strategies to Protect Innovation. Other highlighted topics were: How to Protect through Copyrights and Software Protection Strategies. During the second block, Loreto Alarcón conducted a workshop on Patent Drafting and State of the Art Searches, stressing the importance of these searches when drafting a patent.

Chemist from Universidad de Chile. Currently working as chief of the patents department at Clarke, Modet & Co. Chile. Academic for the Diploma on Industrial and Intellectual Property offered by Universidad Finis Terrae. 7 years professional experience at the Ministry of the Economy, Development and Reconstruction, in the Department of Industrial Property of Chile, occupying positions such as: Expert and patent examiner and Chief of OFINTEC (IT Office). More than 20 years of professional experience in Industrial Property, Patent Surveillance and Patent Drafting.

Loreto Alarcón, Patent Engineer, Clarke Modet & Co. Chile

Chemist from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, candidate for a Master’s Degree in Technological Management with a minor in Biotechnology from Universidad de Santiago de Chile, Bachelor in Education from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. More than 8 years of experience in Industrial Property, Patent Surveillance and Patent Drafting. Prior to working for Clarke, she worked at Johansson & Langlois, a law firm specialized in the protection of industrial property, as a Patent Engineer, from 2005 to 2012.
