Venezuelan Patent and Trademark Office granted invention patents for the first time since year 2006

It is our great pleasure to announce that the Venezuelan Patent and Trademark Office (VPTO) has granted invention patents for the first time since year 2006, in its Bulletin No. 608 dated May 24, 2021. The invention patents granted to foreign applicants are in the pharmaceutical, chemical and mechanical fields.

This decision of the Venezuelan PTO, together with the direct implementation of the TRIPS Agreement, the Paris Convention, the Nice Classification and other international conventions signed by Venezuela, goes along the lines described by its authorities to modernize the services they provide and help promote the country´s development by improving Intellectual Property rights protection in Venezuela.
